Leaking restauration

A leaking restauration should be restored before endodontic (re)treatment is started. Sometimes it is better to look for the access of root canals before the whole tooth has been restored (better view on the floor of the pulp chamber). The use of the Operating Microscope has made the treatment much more easy, because the light in the pulpchamber is also optimal under difficult circumstances.

A leaking restauration can be the cause of getting hypochlorite in the oral cavity. Also saliva can come in the pulp chamber.

Tips:
  • Think of a leaking restauration if hypochlorite disappears out of the pulp chamber
  • Think of a leaking restauration when after drying the pulp chamber gets wet again
  • Think of a leaking restauration if air bubbles are visible at the outside of the tooth when blowing in the pulp chamber
  • Think of a leaking restauration when blowing around the tooth leads to air bubbles in the hypochlorite which is in the pulp chamber.
